United Way Board Member Spotlight – Tom Zens

Tell us a little about you and your family:

My family and I live in Litchfield. Gina and I have been married for 19+ years and we have two daughters Delaney (14) and Addyson (9).

Where do you work and what is your role?

I work at Center National Bank in Litchfield where I’m a Vice President of Commercial and Ag lending.

What inspired you to become involved with United Way?

Wayne Nelson encouraged me to get involved in United Way as a way of giving back to communities in which we live and work.

What is the most rewarding thing(s) you have taken from this experience?

Learning about all the agencies in the area and the important role they play within our communities.

What is one word you would use to sum up United Way’s work and why?


What impresses you most about the United Way of West Central Minnesota?

It’s commitment year over year to improve and do more. United Way has collaborated with many amazing agencies in the area and I feel we have become a great community partner.

What is one thing about United Way that you think people should know?

We have done many good things for the area but the need to do more never ends.

What advice would you give to a potential donor who is considering investing in United Way?

The impact a donation has is priceless. Many dollars are spent helping kids, providing basic needs, and helping to improve someone way of life.

How has being a board member for United Way affected your life?

The connections with individual’s and business’s I’ve made within the community are connections I’ll never forget. I’ve made many new friends since getting involved and those friendships will be lifelong relationships.
