Battle of the Beards

The United Way of West Central Minnesota is proud to partner with four regional barber shops for our first Battle of the Beards Contest. The Hair Hut of Benson, Larry’s Barber and Style of Litchfield, Mac’s Barber Shop of Olivia, and Pep’s Barber Shop and Salon of Willmar need your help raising funds for our neighbors fighting the fight against cancer. By becoming a contestant or making a donation you can make a difference in the lives of those who are affected by cancer in your own community.

The Barbershops are searching for a team of five or more local contestants willing to grow a beard (new or existing) and collect pledges during the month of November. The teams will compete to raise the most in donations both in-person and online, with 50% of each team’s total going to their local cancer support programs. The barbershop generating the most dollars in donations by the end of November will be invited to help determine how the rest of the funds raised will be used as part of the United Way grant distribution team. The contestants will also be placed into one of five competing categories to see who can raise the most in donations from each category. A prize will be awarded to the contestant that raises the most donations in each category.
