How much of the local funds go to UW Worldwide?

1.5% of funding goes to membership dues at UWW. Some of this money comes back to our area by way of resources such as 2-1-1, MyFreeTaxes.com, and Prescription Discount Programs.

How else is UWWCM held accountable?

Local United Ways are separately incorporated non-profit organizations, with local volunteer boards comprised of local community leaders making the strategic decisions to achieve the organization’s mission. We also achieve various seals from charity reviewing agencies, such as GuideStar and Charity Navigator which means we have met the rigorous standards they put forth for accountability and transparency. How much of the donated funds go toward overhead costs?

“The Charities Review Council recommends a range of 10-30% for nonprofit organizations, with less than 10% considered insufficient for proper administrative function. Our current administrative cost is at 19%; fundraising cost is at 12%.
